Together Fairness Works is a Canadian Labour Congress campaign and helps members and our communities to see the importance in unions. The CLC has released its 2014 Union Advantage statistics which show, very clearly, the benefits of belonging to a union. This information can be found in the link below, on the ETFO website, CLC website, as well as through various social media outlets!

School Visits 2014-2015
Due to time limitations, I have only scheduled visits to schools with 3 or more LTO’s, however if you, or your colleagues, have questions, comments or concerns that you would like to discuss, call or email me and I would be more than happy to visit your school too! Email reminders will be sent prior to visits, provided I have your email in the database.
Also, please note that visits are subject to change due to other meetings or obligations as well as inclement weather. Thank you for understanding. See you soon!

ONTARIO TEACHER PENSION PLAN
It’s NEVER too early to learn about your pension!
The Ontario Teachers’ Federation (OTF) and the Ontario government are
changing the pension plan’s inflation protection. This change is part
of an agreement to eliminate the pension plan’s 2012 funding shortfall.
Inflation protection after you retire will now be based on three
periods of pension credit. For more information, please visit
Voluntary Leave of Absence Days are no longer available to members.
This was a one time option as implemented by the Ministry that ended at the end of the 2013-2014 school year.

** Changes to Elementary Provincial Report Cards for September 2014 **
ETFO was recently informed by the Ministry of a few changes that have been made to the templates of the Elementary Provincial Report Cards for September 2014!
The Ministry’s EduGains website has updated the FAQ page and can be accessed here:
The report Card pages are now live and located at: http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/document/forms/report/card/reportCard.html http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/fre/document/forms/report/card/reportCard.html
OCT Mandate Creep
Since it was established in 1996, the Ontario College of Teachers has expanded into areas that are beyond its legislated mandate. There should be a clear separation of roles where the College regulates the teaching profession in the public interest and advocacy for the profession is left to the organizations that represent teachers.
The “mandate creep” on the part of the College creates confusion about its role. It has also led to a misguided use of College human and financial resources and to an increase in staff and budget that College registrants have been forced to pay for. The College revenue comes solely from fees charged for registering with the College.
