Ontario Teacher Workload and Professionalism Study
ETFO is asking members to participate in a study on Teacher Workload and Professionalism that will identify the factors that contribute to workload, help or hinder its impact on you, your professional learning needs, and how the board and Ministry initiatives impact your workload. The survey will be available from February 12th to February 26th, 2014. Your responses are confidential. To access the live survey directly, visit http://fluidsurveys.com/s/ETFO-WRKLD-PROF/.
I will begin making school visits on a regular basis, beginning the week of October 15th. I will email any members on an LTO at the school prior to the visit (provided I have their email). Stay tuned for your opportunity to ask questions, voice ideas and help improve communication by speaking directly with your union President!
* please note, these visits could be subject to change at last minute and will be rescheduled should a postponement be necessary. These visits will also be postponed in the event of inclement weather. Thank you for understanding!

* PROTEST the latest OCT fee increase! *
Recently the Council of the Ontario College of Teachers approved the 2014 budget with a $2.7 million increase in expenditures. In order to balance this budget Council approved a 8.7% fee increase. In 2014 the new OCT fee of $150 will be deducted from a teacher’s first pay in January (or sent directly to the College by occasional teachers and teachers on leave).
This amended fee represents a 25% increase from 2012 to 2014.
During the debate over the fee increase it was mentioned by College staff that only 300 members wrote to complain about the last fee increase. It was suggested that the rest of the members either supported the increase or didn’t care. Send a message that you do care! Tell the College that enough is enough and it is time for them to live within their means. Here is a campaign tool for emailing the College on the ETFO website: http://www.etfo.ca/advocacyandaction/octfeeincrease/pages/default.aspx
